Today, Health Affairs published a new article titled, Medicare’s Current Strategy for Health-Related Social Needs Is Necessary But Not Sufficient, written by CHLPI’s Rachel Landauer, Erin McCrady, and Kathryn Garfield. The article explores recent Medicare policy developments that create new opportunities for health care systems to address patients’ health-related social needs. However, through an analysis of these policy developments, CHLPI staff discuss how Medicare’s approach falls short and what is needed to truly drive a coordinated strategy.
