ACA and HIV/AIDS Prevention and Clinical Care:
What Providers Need To Know
Thursday, June 26, 2014 – 5:30pm to 8:00pm (dinner served)
Location TBA, Boston, MA
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) and other reforms to our health care delivery systems are having a dramatic impact on our ability to address the care and treatment needs of people living with HIV and AIDS. Many people now have increased access to comprehensive and affordable health care through reforms to both private health insurance and the Medicaid program. However, despite impressive progress, for many people living with HIV and AIDS there are ongoing challenges in health care access, quality, and cost. It is crucial that we fully take advantage of ACA opportunities and continue to work toward a future of high quality, equitable, and sustainable health care for all people living with HIV and AIDS.
This training will provide resources and tools to support provider-client communication about the ACA. It will support a broader understanding of both opportunities and challenges related to the ACA and other health care system reforms. Key topics covered will include the following:
- Summarizing key provisions in the ACA and addressing the ongoing role of the Ryan White Program in HIV care
- Identifying both opportunities and challenges for communities of color living with HIV in accessing ACA coverage
- Providing tools that support providers in their efforts to engage clients in each phase of the health coverage access continuum
