The development and approval of direct acting antiretrovirals for Hepatitis C is rapidly changing the paradigm of hepatitis diagnosis, treatment and cure for the millions of Americans who suffer from HCV. However, the high cost of treatment has led many Medicaid programs across the country to implement treatment access restrictions, including in some instances, restricting the ability of APRNs to prescribe. The restrictions unfairly limit access and are not based on clinical evidence.
