FLPC Senior Fellow Jian Yi speaks at Food 2050 World Premiere at Sundance Film Festival

FLPC Senior Fellow on Food Systems, Jian Yi, joined a panel organized by Food Tank and the Rockefeller Foundation at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, in late January 2026. The panel followed the world premiere of Food 2050, a feature-length documentary produced by Media RED and narrated by Viola Davis.

Jian Yi appears in the film for his groundbreaking work with the Good Food Fund’s Mama’s Kitchen initiative, which reimagines the role of kitchens across homes, communities, schools, and national food systems. In 2021, Mama’s Kitchen was selected by the Rockefeller Foundation as one of ten global visionaries for its 2050 Food Systems Vision Prize.

An award-winning filmmaker himself, Yi frequently appears in documentary films that focus on food systems, climate, or animal welfare. These films include: All the World is Green (2025-2026), produced by Pinch Media; Eating Animals (2017), produced by Natalie Portman;  Eating Plants (2022), an Australian TV docuseries.
