CHLPI hosts FIM Implementers’ Workshop

Last month, the Center for Heath Law & Policy Innovation (CHLPI) hosted a Food is Medicine (FIM) Implementers’ Workshop at Harvard Law School for an incredible day of learning and networking. CHLPI hosted individuals from across the country, representing over 40 organizations across 28 states and Washington D.C.

The event centered on some of the most pressing topics in Food is Medicine, such as embedding local food procurement into FIM initiatives, the need for sustainable funding models, and how to overcome implementation barriers. As one attendee stated, “this workshop re-emphasized for me the importance of continuing to build the infrastructure (partnerships between health care and the food system, food hubs, food access points etc.) alongside pursuing policy change.

Another attendee is taking home a key “concept of ‘training the leader’…it inspired me to take action in developing a new sales and communication strategy. Essentially, identifying leadership in any stakeholder group and training them on the importance of locally sourced food is medicine so they can, in turn, be advocates for you.”

Thank you to everyone who contributed their knowledge and expertise to this event to make it such an incredible day furthering collaboration and knowledge in the field of Food is Medicine.
