Supreme Court Affirms USPSTF’s Role in No-Cost Preventive Care

The Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation (CHLPI) welcomes the Supreme Court’s decision to preserve the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) critical framework for guaranteeing access to preventive care.

Carmel Shachar, Director of CHLPI’s Health Law and Policy Clinic, emphasized the impact of the decision, stating, “Today’s ruling, which keeps in place the no-cost preventive care mandate and the USPSTF’s recommendations, is really important for making sure that people in our communities who want to access PrEP, who want to get screenings for breast cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer can do so.”

While relieved by the Court’s decision, CHLPI remains committed to defending the scientific integrity of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and ensuring that political considerations do not undermine access to life-saving care. The organization will continue to advocate against any efforts to erode these critical protections.

A National Coalition of HIV, LGBTQ+, and Health Advocates issued a statement from the Executive Directors of Lambda Legal, PrEP4All, the Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation, the Center for HIV Law and Policy, and Equality Federation regarding the Court’s decision.
