Addressing Disparities in Food and Health Policy to Achieve Social Justice

Equitable access to food and health is essential to achieving social justice. Join the Health Law and Policy Clinic and the Food Law and Policy Clinic for a dynamic discussion about their work to ensure that access to necessary health care treatments and healthy food is not just a privilege for the wealthy. These Clinics partner with a broad range of community-based clients, including:
- Farmworker Justice, a nonprofit seeking to help migrant and seasonal farmworkers mobilize their community to reduce the impact of skin cancer in Florida and California;
- Legacy Community Health, a federally qualified health center that uses client-centered programs to address unmet needs and gaps in health services, and engages the Houston community in developing an “End of HIV/AIDS” plan;
- Navajo Nation’s Community Outreach and Patient Empowerment (COPE), a non-profit increasing availability of healthy food across the Navajo Nation and convening stakeholders to influence food policies.
Students interested in enrolling in either Clinic are welcome to stay after the event (or to come at 1:00pm) to learn more about the Clinics.
