Webinar: Local Food is Medicine: A New Economic Engine for Farmers and Communities
Join The Rockefeller Foundation and The Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation at Harvard Law School on March 24th at 3:00 PM Eastern Time for the launch of a new report, “From Farm to FIM: The Economic Impact of Local Food is Medicine“, examining how local Food is Medicine can generate significant economic benefits for states while building stronger, more resilient food systems. The webinar will present key findings from the report alongside firsthand insights from FIM providers working directly with farmers — exploring the opportunities these programs can unlock. Heather Latino, Clinical Instructor at CHLPI, will moderate the webinar.
As interest in FIM interventions — like produce prescriptions and medically tailored meals — continues to grow, this report highlights the critical window states have to design programs thoughtfully, embedding local sourcing, supporting community-based providers, and aligning healthcare spending with broader rural and economic development goals. Featuring economic modeling, strategies for FIM program development, and real-world examples, the report offers a timely roadmap for how Food is Medicine can improve health and help rebuild local economies at the same time.
